Carbon Building Blocks of Our World – Natural vs. Synthetic

Carbon is one the most important elements on our planet: we are even made out of it.

It is present in natural form in plants, trees, oil, graphite or diamond. The most known synthetic carbons are graphene, carbon nanotubes, carbon black and carbon fibers.

CarbonX Network

CarbonX can be considered as a new class of synthetic carbon. CarbonX filaments are chemically attached to each other, they have a diameter that can be as small as a carbon nanotube while the network aggregate can be even larger than a carbon black aggregate. However, the networks are orders of magnitude smaller compared to regular carbon fibers.
